- Born and raised in Shreveport; Father, Burl Nesbitt, a barber;
- Educated in Caddo Parish public schools; Honor Roll, 1st senior class at Captain Shreve High School;
- Worked his way through LSU-S, Dean’s List, and LSU Law Center, with the assistance of his former wife and college loans;
- Completed college and law school in six (6) years, graduating from LSU Law School at the age of 24; passed the Louisiana Bar exam on his first try;
- The first non-senior to ever win the Flory Trial Competition at the LSU Law Center;
- Divorced after a 34 year marriage; has experienced being involved in “property litigation”, first hand and personally, reinforcing his “litigation philosophy” of since 1974 (see our “Litigation Philosophy” tab);
- Son Brian, a graduate of Louisiana Tech, lives in Shreveport;
- Three grandsons;
- Daughter Britney, a graduate of Rhodes College, married to a Memphis Police officer, lives in Memphis;
- Retired regional class triathlete; competed in triathlons in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Arizona, South Carolina and Hawaii; qualified for and competed in two times each, the USTS national championships at the Olympic distance and the national “long course championships”; also has competed in road races, marathons, long distance “extreme” trail running, bicycle racing and tennis;
- Hit from the rear by an auto while on a bicycle in 1988; has the personal experience of being injured, being hospitalized, recovering, filing suit but then settling a personal injury claim, all as “the victim”;
- Taught high intensity aerobic “H.E.A.T.” (high intensity athletic training) kick boxing for 8 years; 5 national certifications, one in contact kick boxing; mixed his own music which provided for continuous, non-stop 1.5+ hour workouts; designed the sound systems at two of the locations where he taught classes; “It Rocked”;
- An avid golfer who never rides in a cart, always walks the course;
- “Hammers” elliptical machines and does moderate weight workouts several times a week at a local fitness center; is “nutritionally aware”;
- Heavily involved in providing concert quality sound systems, music mixes, acting as emcee and a motivational speaker for Sportspectrum produced events in Shreveport; also, for 7 Dallas White Rock Marathons, the International Triathlon Union World Championships in the Virgin Islands and hundreds of local “fund raising” events, including sound, music and mixes for the Krewe of Justinian “Bals” and their two floats in the Centaur and Highland Mardi Gras parades;
- On the sound, music and emcee front for Sportspectrum and major charity events, provides concert quality sound, custom music mixes and emcees; currently in his “23rd Anniversary Farewell Tour” which began as the “20th Anniversary Farewell Tour”; his first event being the River Cities Triathlon in July, 1988, while still on crutches with fractures healing and bandaged burns still oozing, during his recovery from injuries from a bicycle-car accident the month before; the car won but Woody really, really dented it!
